Biomass Energy in China in 2020

Biomass energy is an important part of the renewable energy system. The International Energy Agency proposed in 2018 that biomass energy is a neglected "giant" in renewable energy. Biomass energy will lead the consumption of renewable energy in the next five years. increase.

According to the latest "RENEWABLE CAPACITY STATISTICS 2020" released by IRENA, in 2019, the global installed capacity of renewable energy power generation reached 253.7 million kilowatts, an increase of 176 million kilowatts from 2018.

Among them, the installed capacity of biomass power generation in the world reached 124GW, accounting for about 4.9% of the total installed capacity of renewable energy power generation.

According to data from the National Energy Administration, as of the end of 2019, China's biomass power generation installed capacity reached 22.54 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 26.6%; in 2019, biomass power generation was 111.1 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 20.4%.

Judging from the development of the biomass power generation industry in various provinces, the installed capacity in the eastern coastal areas and Guangdong is in a leading position. As of the end of 2019, the installed capacity of biomass power generation in Shandong reached 3.243 million kilowatts, 1.954 million kilowatts in Anhui and 2.031 million kilowatts in Jiangsu, and 2.394 million kilowatts in Guangdong.

As of the end of 2019, the installed capacity of waste incineration power generation accounted for 53% of the total installed capacity of biomass power generation, ranking first; the installed capacity of agricultural and forestry biological power generation accounted for 43%; the installed capacity of biogas power generation accounted for 4 %.

Guangdong Province Leads in Waste Incineration Power Generation

As of the end of 2019, the cumulative installed capacity of waste incineration power generation in 30 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) in the country was 12.02 million kilowatts, an increase of 31% from 2018. In 2019, the new installed power generation capacity was 2.86 million kilowatts.

As of the end of 2019, the top five provinces in the cumulative installed capacity of waste incineration power generation are Guangdong, Zhejiang, Shandong, Jiangsu and Anhui. The total installed capacity of these five provinces accounted for 58.9% of the national cumulative installed capacity.

The installed capacity of agricultural and forestry biomass power generation is nearly 10 million kilowatts

As of the end of 2019, the cumulative installed capacity of agricultural and forestry biomass power generation in 25 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) nationwide was 9.73 million kilowatts, an increase of 21% from 2018, and the new installed capacity in 2019 was 1.7 million kilowatts.

As of the end of 2019, the top five provinces in the cumulative installed capacity of agricultural and forestry biomass power generation are Shandong, Anhui, Heilongjiang, Hubei, and Jiangsu. The total installed capacity of the five provinces accounted for 54.3% of the total installed capacity of the country.

Biogas power generation is relatively small

As of the end of 2019, the cumulative installed capacity of biogas power generation in 25 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) nationwide was 790,000 kilowatts, an increase of 27% compared with the same period in 2018. In 2019, the installed power generation capacity increased by 170,000 kilowatts.

As of the end of 2019, the top five provinces for cumulative installed capacity of biogas power generation are Guangdong, Zhejiang, Shandong, Jiangsu, and Anhui. The cumulative installed capacity of the five provinces accounts for 58.9% of the country.
