On June 27, Shanghai’s large-scale passenger-carrying demonstration application for smart connected vehicles was launched, and Didi Chuxing opened its first-ever autonomous driving service to the public.
Users can register online through the Didi APP. After the review is passed, the user will be able to call a self-driving vehicle for a trial ride experience on the autonomous driving test section in Shanghai for free.
At this stage, Didi's passenger-carrying test range is limited to the open test road in Shanghai, and the route passes through the Shanghai Automobile Exhibition Center, office areas, subway stations, hotels and other core areas.
Users can choose the starting point and ending point in the open road range through the Didi APP, and can experience the automatic driving service for free.
In order to ensure the safety of the trip, the self-driving test vehicle will be accompanied by an arranged safety officer in accordance with relevant regulations, and can take over the vehicle at any time to deal with unexpected situations.
At the same time, Didi has set up the country's first self-driving safety escort center, which can monitor vehicles and road conditions in real time, and give assistance instructions when vehicles face complex situations to solve possible remote assistance problems in future autonomous driving operations.
At some intersections in the test area, Didi deployed a self-developed vehicle-road collaborative solution that can share road information in real time with autonomous driving test vehicles from different companies in the area, eliminating driving blind spots.
